Hawker Beechcraft to Highlight Trainer, Light Attack & Special Mission Programs at Paris Air Show

Par Press Release, le 17 Juin 2011

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) today announced it will highlight its trainer, light attack and special mission programs during the 49th Paris Air Show, June 20-26 at Le Bourget Airport in France. HBC’s static display will be located outside its Chalet #406 and will showcase the T-6C Texan II military trainer, a Special Mission King Air 350ER turboprop and a King Air B200 operated by the Government of Malta, which is outfitted with highly sophisticated Aerodata surveillance equipment. The company, along with CAE, a leading provider of simulation and training systems, will also debut the AT-6 flight simulator at its exhibit.

“The Paris Air Show remains a great venue for meeting current and potential customers, with its great tradition and anticipated attendance of more than 130,000 business representatives,” said Jim Maslowski, HBC president, U.S. and International Government Business. “Paris continues to attract visitors from more countries around the world than any other international air show, so it allows us to conduct business in a shorter period of time than virtually any other event.”

AT-6: The AT-6 simulator on display features a high-fidelity AT-6 cockpit that is used to train for the full spectrum of missions – from advanced irregular warfare scenarios through complex light attack combat missions – in a cockpit environment with fully functional controls and displays. The flight controls are actively loaded and the cockpit features real aircraft grips to provide the same feel as the aircraft. The ejection seat is a replica of the AT-6 aircraft seat with electric adjustments to accommodate individual trainees. The instructor can control the flight scenarios from a remote instructor operator station, which features rolling castors for maximum flexibility. The demonstration will feature the AT-6 flying missions through a CAE-developed common database of a realistic desert environment, with the synthetic imagery generated by the CAE Medallion-6000 visual system.

Leveraging its successes as a supplier to militaries around the globe, HBC has developed the AT-6, which is designed and built to provide close air support and light attack capabilities required to meet the Department of Defense’s Building Partnership Capacity needs. The AT-6 is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment such as Pratt and Whitney Canada’s PTA-68D powerplant, CMC Esterline’s mission modified Cockpit 4000, Lockheed Martin’s A-10C-based mission system and L-3 WESCAM’s MX-15Di EO/IR sensor pod. The aircraft is also equipped with an ALQ-213 EW Management System, ARC-210 radios with secure voice/data and SATCOM capabilities, and a wide variety of weapons capability required to excel in meeting irregular warfare mission requirements.

T-6C: The T-6C military trainer aircraft features a “hard-point wing” to allow carriage of external stores and a state-of-the-art integrated all-glass cockpit featuring a wide-angle Heads-Up Display, Up-Front Control Panel, and three color multi-function displays as key components of its advanced Esterline CMC Cockpit 4000 avionics suite. The system’s open architecture facilitates integration of future upgrades while maximizing today’s capabilities for advanced training opportunities. The systems are integrated with a Hands-On Throttle and Stick, providing the student pilot and instructor with a simpler interface to the digital cockpit. The CMC Cockpit 4000 avionics suite is the first in its class to incorporate a fully integrated and FAA-certified dual FMS/GPS navigation suite that meets the required navigation performance standards for current worldwide airspace equipment. The open architecture design of the Cockpit 4000 provides the flexibility to further expand capabilities and evolve to meet future training needs.

King Air 350ER: HBC markets, produces and supports a whole range of special mission aircraft for commercial applications, militaries and governments worldwide. The King Air 350ER offers extended range, long endurance, and can be configured with a variety of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, as well as air ambulance and other special mission applications.
